General Description: Chives are an onion-like plant in the lilly family. They are pronounced in plural as they grow in clumps rather than one. Chives grow from bulbs with long hollow tubular leaves. They have a similar but milder flaver than onion and garlic.

Uses: Chives are used in a wide variety of dishes such as stir-fry’s, potatoes, soups, and garnishes.

History: Chives have been documented as far back as 3000 B.C. The Romans are said to have used chives for healing sunburns and sore throats.

Origin: Chives are native to China and Taiwan but are grown in all regions of the world today.
